What a Global Warming Skeptic Believes

Posted by Jeff Id on August 24, 2008

A global warming skeptic is someone who reading and understanding the same data as others comes to a different conclusion.

1 – First and foremost, a global warming skeptic believes in science.

2 – A global warming skeptic believes in intelligent conservation and preservation.

3 – A global warming skeptic believes the earth has likely warmed to some extent in the last 40 years.

4 – A global warming skeptic believes that extremism and politics have overwhelmed the science and that the Intergovenmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is at its roots corrupt.

5 – A global warming skeptic believes global temperature changes are more common than the preferred research chosen by government agencies reveals.

6 – A global warming skeptic believes that there is little evidence linking human activity to temperature changes but does not discount the possibility.

7 – A global warming skeptic believes that there is little hope that humans can stop producing CO2 even if the worst case scenarios of the extremists are true.

8 – A global warming skeptic believes that environmental extremism has and will continue to create severe economic damage which has already caused some level of starvation and strife in the world, and if our current path is followed it will limit research and the financial ability to implement truly useful and technically achievable environmental solutions.

9 – A global warming skeptic believes humanity needs to do more research, achieve more accurate temperature measurement, establish better historic temperatures, open the scientific raw data and calculations to the public and allow dissenters to have a full voice in the IPCC before signing over the keys to our bank accounts in a vain attempt to stop CO2 production.

    I’d like to add:
A Global Warming Skeptic checks out the scientific arguments for him or herself rather than relying solely on TV news or An Inconvenient Truth or Greenpeace press releases, and is wary of dramatic-sounding catastrophic claims.

    You left out:

A global warming skeptic is someone who usually owns more than 1 car, enjoys fresh produce and imported sea food from supermarkets and thinks prices are too high, supports building the Mexican border fence, has children with allegies, plays golf on weekends, drives to several playdates a week, is a Christian who supports their troops invading other countries for oil, spends more money on their cable TV monthly bill than other families spend on food, is a project manager who has so much on their plate they can’t get any of it done,(and couldn’t do any of it if they knew how), has filled a garbage dump with plastic bottles used to hold water, uses solid evidence to support inaction, and will study a problem until they die from it.

    Have I left something out?

    Just for Earl E

I don’t fit your profile. If I did, it wouldn’t change the science.

I learned a long time ago working in a laboratory, that physics is a harsh mistress. Often your most coveted beliefs will be overturned by a simple experiment.

I do suggest you study more.

Please do tell which of the above the profile parts you do not participate in, I would like to know, really. No car, no shopping, no cable, no support of troops, or is it no kids, therefor no play dates? Or is it not golf, but some other pursuit?

Science is the study of change over time. Adaptation occurs when one accepts the data and changes their behavoir. You have changed, as I have. And we will continue to change by our own participation in this global economy.

It is the fruits that will not be on the shelf that really matters most for our children.

    Since you asked, Earl

    1 car
No seafood for 2 months not even fishsticks — some crablegs sound good though don’t they maybe we’ll break the trend next week.
    $29/month cable
Only conservative I know who didn’t want to go to Iraq and was outspoken about it, but very very supportive of what is happing.
Haven’t been to church this century.
Don’t drink bottled water and I’m not sure why that matters.
    1 kid – He’s 2 so no playdates yet!
I did golf 2 years ago.
And I own my own company.

So big dog, what do you think of that!
Why did I bother to answer. —

I am not even going to respond to your lecture about science.

The fruits will be on the shelf if we don’t do something stupid, like not burn oil.

Intelligent conservation will bring reasonable results. You are part of a more serious crisis, see my post below.

    Hey John,

Don’t be afraid to criticize me, I am wrong a lot.

I will be happy to respond to your email, but I haven’t received it yet.

Also, please give me some time to respond, I am trying to run my company right now.

the thing that confuses me is that you never mention the pictures that show the presence of an ozone hole. Please get back to me on that.

    -John

P.S. Just as a referenc point I am not going to make any personal attacks on you like these other bozos are

Why is it these AGW bozos never know the difference between the Ozone Hole and and global warming?
