Solar Forcing – Can the Sun Heat the Earth?

Posted by Jeff Id on September 6, 2008

An interesting article which makes the controversial point that the Sun actually might heat the Earth. It sounds crazy to me. The link is HERE.

This is an interesting graph that anyone interested in climate change should know. Most scientists don’t believe that solar variance causes all of the change we see, yet most also will tell you that this is some of it. In reality nobody really knows.

This is true, the sunlight absorbed by the earth every minute of every day is almost six 100 Watt light bulbs worth of energy for every square yard of the earth. It’s a very big number in Kilo Watts and fortunately we don’t have to pay FPL for it. The amount of sunlight per square yard goes up and down with sun cycles causing deserts or ice ages. After all, sunlight warmed up the earth from the last ice age, 13,000 years ago, and in another 15,000 years the center of the US will be like the sahara desert today, dry and sandy. So global warming is real, it’s going on now, it will continue for millenia, and is caused by the sun. We should get away from oil because it pollutes. So support green technologies today!
