AGW Part #5 – Limitations of Ice Core Data or The Smoking Gun #2

Posted by Jeff Id on August 25, 2008

From my previous post on ice core data “AGW Part #5 – Limitations of Ice Core Data or The Smoking Gun” we could see the regular variations in temperature over the last 10000 years regularly shifting up and down by as much as 1.5 degrees. We also saw in my post AGW part #4 – The History of Temperature that CO2 levels measured much lower than what we measure today and they typically lag behind temperature change.

I took the time to count the number of times our temperature has crossed the zero line in the last 5000 years. I counted 36 transitions across the zero line. I also counted 31 times where temperature shifted up or down by more than 1 degree C see below.

AGW Part #5 – Limitations of Ice Core Data or The Smoking Gun

Posted by Jeff Id on August 24, 2008

Ice core data as discussed in AGW Part #4, is the result of trapped gasses in microbubbles in ice. The ice is cut using a long tubular saw/drill and removed in long segments. The theory of ice cores is that once the snow pack becomes dense enough, the trapped air cannot travel through the ice core. Diffusion effects are clearly present however. Therefore, if you introduce a high concentration of gas at one point in the core, over time it will spread out. This tends to “filter” sudden spikes in temperature as recorded by gas concentrations over time. Below is an excellent illustration from an excellent site on ice core data here.

What a Global Warming Skeptic Believes

Posted by Jeff Id on August 24, 2008

A global warming skeptic is someone who reading and understanding the same data as others comes to a different conclusion.

1 – First and foremost, a global warming skeptic believes in science.

2 – A global warming skeptic believes in intelligent conservation and preservation.

AGW part #4 – The History of Temperature

Posted by Jeff Id on August 23, 2008

To determine how much the earth has warmed by man’s influence we need to have a good temperature and CO2 record from history. After all you can’t claim that we are destroying the planet if temperature varies up and down all the time. It turns out this is not particularly easy to do. The field of climate reconstruction is called paleoclimatology and its conclusions are as slippery and often contested as archeology.

Biden and Obama -The Campaign with a Lack of Energy

Posted by Jeff Id on August 23, 2008

The biggest issue facing America this year and will be the economy. There are two things loading it down very heavily now, housing and energy. Most of us were wise enough and lucky enough not to own a house which we later couldn’t afford but all of us are paying for broken government policy.

Obama and VP Joe Biden – The perfect driveby storm.

Posted by Jeff Id on August 23, 2008

Here we go. The media blitz will be massive. It appears the uber-liberal Biden is the choice. Absolutely no expense will be spared by the media to prop up Obama now. VP choice through the convention, the war has begun.

Let’s remember what makes America different conservatives, we need to teach the immigrants the difference between government control and freedom. Remember our freedoms we still have, we can speak against increased government control, we can expose the false promise of socialism, we need to fight for our freedom again. This time the problem is more insidious, more cancerous, the liberal forces are on both sides of the government now and our freedoms are vanishing.

The media will push harder than ever before this election.

Anthropogenic Global Warming #3 – IPCC Global Warming Conclusions

Posted by Jeff Id on August 22, 2008

Ok, now I will show the latest “summary for policy making” document available on the internet and here.  This document is the current IPCC recommendations to the world as to how humankind should address global warming.

Because of the nature of the IPCC discussed in my first and second post, we already know they must have very strong wording in this document.  My article Anthropogenic Global Warming #2 discusses the review process as related to the full report here. Read the rest of this entry »

Olympic Chinese Girls Off the Charts in Height and Weight

Posted by Jeff Id on August 22, 2008

The Chinese olympic girls gymnastics team was clearly underage when it took several golds in the 2008 games. The age rule is a stupid one but it is a rule.

In gymnastics, little girls flip better than women, age cannot be proven, it can’t protect the young girls physically because they all have to practice hard anyway to make the international stage when they do reach 16. The thinking when they made these rules is difficult to understand.

Here is a nice link showing how incredibly far the Chinese team is from a normal Chinese girls growth curve. You only needed to see it with your eyes though to know a couple of them were underage. Read the rest of this entry »

When Dictatorships Invade

Posted by Jeff Id on August 21, 2008

When Poland was invaded by the Germans in WW2 in 1939 less than 70 years ago. The Germans claimed the comparatively weak polish army was the aggressor. The Russians followed into Poland only 3 weeks later, taking over a portion of the weakened country. Twenty percent of Polands population was lost before the war ended. Read the rest of this entry »

Anthropogenic Global Waming Story #2 – IPCC and Peer Review

Posted by Jeff Id on August 21, 2008

Ok, from my previous post it is obvious that the IPCC was formed with CO2 based global warming as a foregone conclusion. The survival their massive organization depends on it. They would be forced to close their own doors to conclude otherwise. How do they overcome this credibility hurdle. Read the rest of this entry »

Anthropogenic Global Waming Story #1 – IPCC

Posted by Jeff Id on August 21, 2008

Ok, this will take a bit. I think each section should be short but make its points. This is a difficult topic and I did research it for a long time without preconceived conclusions.

The IPCC is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is prime driver in world climate change policy see the definition of their history and mission here.

The reason for the founding of the IPCC is defined in an excerpt from the above link. Read the rest of this entry »
