Zero Tolerance!

I’ve been blogging this weekend, much to the chagrin of my far-better half. I’m  a lousy quitter, what can I say.  I tried — hard.  I read math, papers, did calcs, did some CAD, played with the kids, watched movies.  We’re babysitting an awesome golden retreiver.   You know, fun stuff.

So in my blog reading, I spent some time playing with Bart Verheggen’s crowd.  They like me, what can I say. Well, MapleLeaf, whom is thoroughly crazy, has accused me of intended violence against Eli Rabbet.   And I have a new nickname.

Guest post by Elmer Fudd:

Here’s the exchange copied below with stuff removed starting with Eli’s rip on lukewarmers. Why post it? Because the zero tolerance crowd  – is not sane!

  1. Eli Rabett Says:
June 12, 2011 at 02:22 WINO is much better than lukewarmer.
  2. Jeff Id Says:

  3. Eli Rabett Says:
June 12, 2011 at 05:54 You gottacatch the bunny first Elmer. . .
  4. Steve Bloom Says:
June 12, 2011 at 07:10 Hmm, Jeff seems to have acquired himself a nickname, and a very suitable one too.
  5. Bart Says:

    Bart,

Perhaps it is the crowd you hang out with.

I’m spoiled, I know. Thanks for the recipe though, have you tried it? (no disrespect intended to the bunny)

  6. MapleLeaf Says:
June 12, 2011 at 20:27 Bart,Jeff has made a threat of violence against Eli above.

And don’t you or Jeff try and defend it with “but it was a parody” or “but there was a winky face” or some similar lame excuses. That was a threat of violence against Eli, to kill him and cook him. And yes, we here all know who Eli is (including Jeff) and that he is not a bunny, so I do not see much room for weaseling on this one. Would not be surprised if one of Jeff’s pals delivers a dead bunny to Eli’s door, similar to what someone did to Santer.

And note that Jeff, having no compelling or substantive argument (other than referring to one of his fav blogs) to make, makes violent threats and then leaves.

This all reminds why I stopped posting here a while ago….

  7. Jeff Id Says:
June 12, 2011 at 21:22 I sincerely apologize to MapleLeaf and Eli for inadvertently insinuating that I might consider cooking and eating Eli or any other rabbit -with garlic and a glass of wine. My hope is that with counseling and family support we can all recover from this unintended horrific exchange.Waskly wabbit.

  1. I replied:

You’re not referring to the hassenpfeffer recipe, are you? Rather than a “threat of violence”, I think Jeff thought it funny to express his dismay by copying and pasting a recipe here as a pun on Eli’s bunny handle. If Eli regards it as a serious threat I’ll reconsider my stance, but for now I think you’re stretching it. Plagiarism perhaps, but a threat of violence?

  2. Geez, despite the nick, I sincerely hope ML is not Canadian. I hate the thought of sharing a country with anyone that bent and stupid.

  3. Eli Rabbet:

Eli Rabbet is no Bugs Bunny.

  4. Gawd, as a former clone of ‘Mapleleaf-Dana-Bloom et al- I now wince whenever I tumble down into their collective bunny hole. I am soooooo greatful for sites such as those provided by the Pielkes, Lucia, Judith Curry and, differences in politics notwithstanding, tAV.

    Best wishes, ian

  5. Eli:

Eli asks whether he should cloak his outrage in sarcasm and condescension following the examples on display at climate audit and climate et

Or some of the folk on your blog for that matter.

  6. I do seem to remember, that Bugs served up Hassenpfeffer to Elmer (Or it may have been Yosemite Sam), it turned out to be carrot stew.
    Wascally Wabbit indeed!

  7. MapleLeaf suggests that Jeff/Elmer wants to eat Eli Wabett and then says “so I do not see much room for weaseling on this one”. But don’t weasles also eat Wabetts?

I am glad that most of us (Eli included) can have some fun amongst the more serious business of debating the possible evidence for CAGW, etc. And I pity those that can’t.

  8. You would think that a professor of chemistry would be able to engage in serious discussions on the internet, but I just can’t take someone who really pretends to be a rabbit seriously. As such I think it is rather amusing to mock such a silly name!

Seriously though, I can’t tell when Joshy is being serious half the time. I think he really should consider acting in a more dignified manner.

  9. “Bring me some Hasenpfeffer” I believe was a bugs episode with some short little tyrant king demanding this of bugs, the chef. Like most looney tunes entirely entertaining to both children and adults (a least those with a sense of humor). Seems like even Eli has a sense of humor on this one.

  10. When I was a kid, my uncle’s farmkeeper took us on a small foot-trip to the edges of the farm where he’d left rabbit traps. Nothing fancy (but very effective) – a small metal loop the hare would run into and strangulate itself if it struggled. On the day, there was a grey-haired one, trapped and sitting still. We brought it home. It eventually ended up on our dinner plates. Not much meat on it, but very tasty though.

  11. Coincidentally, a news item has hit the wires.

“Race to Save Washington’s Pygmy Rabbits from Extinction”

    http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979443945

    And…

“The previous effort to reintroduce the pygmy in 2007 ended badly when they were quickly gobbled by their many predators.”

“Conventional mating is difficult because female pygmy rabbits will only briefly tolerate the presence of males, and often fight with them, the scientists say.”

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2015305577_apussavingpygmyrabbits1stldwritethru.html

Gosh, I wish I was clever enough to build on that.

  12. Hey, Jeff… I found it was a lot easier to quit after my eight kid came along. Get busy, my friend!
