My father has been saying it longer than I have. I’ve long written that the goal of electric cars is not for climate change. It is to limit transportation. If you cannot travel, you lose a large piece of control over your own life. It prevents the escape from regulation. It prevents the escape from non-livable conditions. It prevents any form of voting with your feet when the authoritarians take over everything. You will have border guards in the US very soon, and I will be dissapointingly right — for the thousandth time this year.
That is their goal by the way. Leftists are authoritarians throughout history, they know best and they NEED to control everything. For their own good.
A fair fraction of the voter class chicken brains idiotically think the leftists are right. Free money instead of money you make. Now, since the article I linked to last week, more cities in the UK are banning travel. Gateway Pundit is again the only news organization on the story. Banning travel- unless you have a perfectly reasonable, government approved and sanctioned, legally accepted PERMIT!!!
The UK is equally as good at politics as the Germans a very not-high compliment.

Ya know Ian, I didn’t know that electric cars were that much heavier. I knew it was more but wow. It’s rare that I learn engineering things anymore without some kind of scientific obscurity so my sincere thanks.

Didn’t make sense for me. It is bordering on foolish to imagine that electric cars will look anything like the vehicles on the roads today.
We used to live an hour out of town, 70 km on a bush road, 300 km from “the big smoke” of Sydney. We had our prejudices. I already despised cars, not because they saved me from walking, but because they were always costing money.
41 years ago we landed in Sydney with a three year old near death with cancer. The surgeons brought him back to us for another year and a half.
For the first couple of weeks I didn’t leave his bedside. Then as things stabilised I went out and stood on the footpath to see what I could see. And what I saw was an endless procession of thirty hundredweights of tin carting one person. It would surely be difficult to devise a less efficient means of moving people.
The switch to EVs will force a move to more efficient operation. The ideal city car will have a tare weight of 300kg for a two seater, or 400kg for a four seater.
No more 5 star ANCAP ratings.
